Tom Johnson's Milestone Achievement

Tom Johnson

Tom's journey with Page Kirk began through our placement programme before he graduated from university with a degree in Accountancy and Finance. After completing an ACA qualification to become a chartered accountant with Page Kirk, Tom took part in our international work exchange programme with CPAmerica. During his three-month stay, working and living in America, he immersed himself in a dynamic environment, learning new techniques and exchanging innovative ideas with his counterparts across the Atlantic.

Tom's dedication and exemplary performance led to his promotion to assistant manager in 2022. His journey within the firm has been characterised by continuous growth and professional development. Through his diligent efforts and willingness to take on new challenges, he has earned the trust and respect of both clients and colleagues. His ability to effectively manage client relationships, coupled with his aptitude for problem-solving, and also creating his own client portfolios through his success in business development has been instrumental in driving the firm's success.

As manager, Tom will assume greater responsibilities in overseeing client accounts, leading projects and providing strategic guidance to ensure the firm's continued growth and success.

He expressed appreciation in response to his promotion:

“I am truly honoured and thrilled that my efforts have been recognised by the Partners here at Page Kirk. This firm is an incredible environment for ambitious individuals, where dedication and innovative thinking are truly valued. I am eager to continue delivering exceptional service to our clients, ensuring that their needs are met with the highest level of care and professionalism.”

Recognising Josh Ruthven

Joshua Ruthven

Josh's dedication, analytical skills and commitment to delivering excellent service have been evident since he joined Page Kirk after graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in Mathematics with Economics.

A valuable member of our personal tax team, Josh qualified as a ICAEW chartered Accountant in 2023. And received his CTA qualification for chartered tax adviser status in 2024, further solidifying his expertise in tax matters.

However, just six months into his career the coronavirus pandemic forced the team to find new ways of working. This is where Josh volunteered to help take extra responsibility on top of usual tax, accountancy and audit work. He learnt the complex details surrounding the government support programmes such as the Job Retention Scheme to aide our clients. Josh's exceptional performance during this period did not go unnoticed. His efforts earned him recognition, being shortlisted for the East Midlands Chamber Business Awards for Apprentice of the Year—an honour well-deserved for his invaluable contributions to the team.

Josh's proficiency in tax matters and active involvement in business development initiatives have significantly contributed to the success of our tax department. As he steps into his new role, there is no doubt that Josh will continue to excel, making invaluable contributions to both the team and clients alike.

In reflecting on his journey and recent promotion, Josh states, "I am really happy about the direction my career is taking here at Page Kirk. Since starting at the firm, I have always felt valued, frequently being given opportunity to prove myself, learn new skills and take on more demanding projects. I look forward to continuing to offer advice on tax and creating strategies that help our new and existing clients, all within such a supportive working environment.”

Matt Walton's Advancement

Matthew Walton

Matt's promotion is a testament to his dedication, expertise and excellent performance within the firm. Since joining Page Kirk after earning a degree in Mathematics with Economics from Aston University, Matt has demonstrated a strong commitment to professional development and has played a significant role in the firm's auditing department.

Beyond his core responsibilities, Matt has gone above and beyond, actively participating in extracurricular activities that benefit both the firm and the wider community. Notably, he served as Page Kirk's representative on the Nottingham Chartered Accountants Student Society (NCASS) committee from 2021 to 2023. In this role, he organised events for trainee accountants across Nottinghamshire and raised funds for NCASS' nominated charities. His involvement underscores his dedication, not only to his professional advancement, but also to making a positive impact beyond the confines of the workplace.

Moreover, Matt actively engages in networking activities within the local business community, serving as a valuable ambassador for Page Kirk. His efforts not only help the firm's reputation but also foster mutually beneficial relationships that contribute to its growth and success.

Matt's commitment to professional development is showcased by his willingness to take on new responsibilities and roles within the firm, contributing to his continuous growth and development.

Matt shared the following about his recent promotion:

“It is a testament to the support and encouragement I've received from my colleagues and mentors. I am truly honoured and excited to take on this new role. Page Kirk has provided me with incredible opportunities for growth, and I am committed to continuing to deliver excellence in my work. It's great to work for a firm where your hard work doesn't go unnoticed and where there is room for progression. I look forward to contributing even more to the success of our team and serving our clients with dedication and integrity."

Senior partner John Wallis commented:

These promotions emphasise our firm's commitment to recognising and nurturing talent from within. We believe that by investing in our staff, we may continue to deliver exceptional service to our clients and provide excellent accountancy services.
