E-Commerce

Our team of E-Commerce accountants can help you with:

Clear financial reporting

Through implementing state-of-the-art digital accounting software, which integrates with all major E-Commerce platforms, our experts will provide you with key insights about your business and will use the data to advise and help you grow. We’ll help you recognise opportunities for improvements to your service lines, support you in developing your products, expanding and becoming more efficient.

VAT and technical E-Commerce tax

Tax is unavoidable, but preparing well in advance and implementing tax strategies will help you to bring down your bill, so that you don’t pay any more than you have to. It is important to maintain good records so that you can reclaim as much VAT on your purchases as possible, as without a VAT receipt or purchase invoice, you will not be able to reclaim the input VAT. If you are newly VAT-registered, it’s useful to know that you are able to reclaim the VAT on goods purchased four years prior to registration and services purchased six months prior to registration.

IOSS/OSS requirements

Now that the UK has left the European Union, there are additional requirements if you want to sell to customers in the EU. If you are a UK company selling goods to EU customers and you want to sell through your own website or Shopify, then you must register for the Import One Stop Shop (IOSS). This single registration is for consignments of no more than £135/€150 and will allow you to trade with all 27 EU members which will reduce your reporting requirements and increase the amount of time you can spend selling. You will have to submit one VAT return each month, which we will complete on your behalf. This VAT return is completed so that all the VAT on your EU sales can be paid to each relevant EU country. However, this is only possible through an intermediary established in the EU.

Page Kirk LLP have partnered with Avalara, with whom we work closely to give you peace of mind and ensure that all the IOSS requirements. For consignments above £135/€ you must use an alternative method for importing your goods.

The Union one stop shop (OSS) can be used for consignments over £135/€150, but only for business-to-consumer sales between two EU countries. This is beneficial if you have suppliers within the EU meaning that the goods you are selling are being transferred from the EU country of the supplier to the EU country of the customer.

Accurate Bookkeeping

Accurate bookkeeping is essential if you want up-to-date financial reports that you can use to track and analyse your business finances. Monthly bookkeeping provides continuous insight into your business activities, so that you can se how your business is performing and make sensible business decisions based on those reports. In addition, it allows you to plan for future tax liabilities much earlier than if you left all reporting to the year end.

Software integration and training

As well as being Certified Xero advisors and Platinum QuickBooks ProAdvisors, we have a team dedicated to digital accounting. We will ensure that your E-Commerce site integrates with your accounting software, giving you the platform to make data-informed decisions. Our team of certified advisers can provide the training you need to ensure that you are making the most of the software.
