What’s it really like to work at Page Kirk

Head Receptionist Amanda Willis gives you an insider's view of what it's like to be part of the team at our Nottingham-based accountancy firm.

I have been with Page Kirk since 2016 and I can honestly say, hand on heart, I have loved every single day. I like routine, which is perfect for my role. I am very much a people person, so love interacting with whoever comes into the office, whether that's clients, potential clients or anyone else.

I love helping throughout the business. I can, as long as it doesn't involve doing a client's VAT or tax return! I leave that to the experts J. I stick to what I know and love. And I must love it as I have been a receptionist since leaving school! As well as looking after Page Kirk reception, I am the first point of contact for the tenants we have in the building. If you ever find yourself at Page Kirk, you are more likely than not to get to know them too!

February 2022 was a very special highlight for me, as Page Kirk introduced an employee initiative called PK Champion. It is an award given out quarterly for employees who have gone the extra mile. I was so shocked and honoured to have won the first ever PK Champion award. It works by other colleagues nominating you, it was a real privilege that the team thought so highly of me.

You may have read pervious articles or seen posts on our socials about 'The Page Kirk family'. Well, it is like having an extended family. Everyone is there for everyone else, to help out or offer advice or guidance.

We have a great social calendar if you are keen to socialise outside of work, but there is no pressure if you are not. Recently we went bowling, and there is always someone up for a pint after work on the local pub on Fridays, if not a full-on night out in Nottingham city centre. The Christmas party is always a highlight. It's a great a chance to get together for a drink or two to catch up with someone you might of not seen for a while. For our most recent Christmas party, we went to Beeston's Grand Marquee, hosted by Best Parties Ever. And it was surely that! Dodgems, dancing and drinks. What more could you want from a Christmas party?

We also take corporate social responsibility very seriously at Page Kirk. I head up all our charity work by encouraging the team to give back to communities to make a difference. It is also a lot of fun and really brings the team together. Our charity fundraising activities in the past have included monthly dress down days, quizzes and raffles. We have also done some big fundraising activities including a 24-hour static bike ride for Meningitis Now and running and cycling the distance between Nottingham and Lapland for charity When You Wish Upon a Star.

If you were considering applying for a job, graduate scheme or placement scheme with Page Kirk, you would not be disappointed. You would be made to feel welcome from the start. I look forward to meeting and greeting you soon, whether it's on the phone or in person at Reception.
