Announcing our new charity for 2021: Emmanuel House

Page Kirk has had enormous success in recent years in raising money for worthy causes. It looks as if 2021 is going to prove no exception, as Head Receptionist Amanda, who coordinates the firm's charity activity, unveils the organisation that will benefit from our fundraising efforts.

What are you doing tonight? Going home after work? Or maybe you've been working from home all day? Perhaps you need to do the dreaded food shop? But I'm guessing most of us will be tucking ourselves into our warm beds tonight in the comfort of our homes, feeling secure, warm and fed.

But what if – through no fault of your own – you didn't have that home available to you? You didn't have that bed, those home comforts or even something to eat?

Where would you go?

Family, friends?

What if you didn't have that support network? Or you just didn't feel you could put that kind of pressure on them?

This year we are proud to announce that Page Kirk will be supporting the charity Emmanuel House. Based in Nottingham's Goose Gate, their mission is to support the vulnerable, without prejudice or judgement, to tackle isolation, vulnerability and homelessness.

Set up in 1976 by Father Roger Killeen, the charity supports adults through a support centre, allowing them to make positive changes out of homelessness.

The charity provides the homeless and vulnerable with their basic needs, which most of us take for granted. Essential survival services include hot food and drink, showers, toiletries, clean and dry clothes, laundry facilities and appointments with a GP or a nurse. The Nottingham Night Shelter has also been operating at a local hotel, which is currently supporting up to 50 people who would otherwise be rough sleeping.

The charity's mission is to help get homeless and vulnerable adults a home of their own. The services offered by them include:

As well as having close links to professional advice, many visitors to Emmanuel House simply appreciate the support network of people in a similar situation to themselves.

Emmanuel House receives no funding for their core services, relying on donations and volunteers.

  • £8 will contribute towards one emergency food parcel.

  • £18 will pay for one mobile phonewith one month's credit for a beneficiary.
  • £25 will contribute towards a beneficiary's hot shower, change of clothes and the opportunity to sit down with someone who can help them.
  • £40 will contribute towards five emergency food parcels.
  • £50 will contribute towards fifty take-away packed lunches.

Dennis Tully, CEO at Emmanuel House says:

"We're so pleased to be working with Page Kirk and to hear that Emmanuel House is its charity of the year for 2021. With no statutory funding for our core services, we rely on donations to continue providing much-needed support and services to those who are homeless, rough sleeping, in crisis or at risk of homelessness in Nottingham. Without such support, all Emmanuel House does would not be possible."

Page Kirk are planning an array of fundraising activities throughout 2021 which will not only help an important local charity through additional funds and awareness, but also give us the opportunity to work together and keep our team spirit up at a time when many of us are still working remotely. More information will be announced in the coming weeks.

John Wallis, Managing Partner at Page Kirk stated:

“I'm extremely proud that the team have chosen Emmanuel House to be Page Kirk's charity of the year. They do remarkable work to rebuild futures. We hope our support throughout 2021 will not only help towards raising money which will aid the charity, but also raise awareness. Page Kirk will aim to push ourselves, work as a team and pull together to do everything we can to support Emmanuel House. This worthy cause, which is close to many of our hearts, will inspire and motivate everyone at Page Kirk to meet our fundraising objectives.”
