We’re off again… but staying in one place!

You may already know about the support Page Kirk has being giving to Meningitis Now – our Charity of the Year. The organisation does a lot of great work in supporting people affected by the disease and funding research into new treatments. We raised £500 earlier this year through members of our team participating in the notorious Tough Mudder event. Now, we have another plan up our sleeves!

On 26th October, we’re bringing two static bikes to our Gregory Boulevard offices, courtesy of PureGym. The task will then be to keep the wheels spinning for a full 24 hours! Eleven of us have signed up to take part, from across all our departments.

There’s no doubt our Static Bike Challenge will be hard work, but we hope it will also be great fun and raise up to £2,000 for a fantastic cause.

Our target of £2,000 would pay for 10 families to attend one of Meningitis Now local Family Days, having fun, accessing support and meeting other families who all have personal experiences of meningitis. Or it could fund one of their forever days for 10 bereaved families, bringing them together to remember loved ones and celebrate their lives in various UK locations. £2,000 could also pay for two weeks of their free helpline, which helps anyone who has had a direct experience of meningitis, their family, friends and carers.  Often answering questions regarding meningitis or its after-effects, about vaccines and the prevention of meningitis and helping anyone seeking support following a meningitis experience.

Our Senior Partner, John Wallis is backing us all the way.

“The work Meningitis Now do is remarkable,” he says, “and we hope that we’ll not only raise money which will aid the charity, but also raise awareness. Meningitis is still affecting individuals and families across the UK and the impact of the disease is devastating. Page Kirk will aim to push ourselves, work as a team and pull together to do everything we can to support our charity of the year, Meningitis Now. This worthy cause has inspired and motivated the team.”

We’ve also received a message of support from PureGym’s Nottingham Manager Phil Berners:

“We are delighted to assist Page Kirk. We always endorse a fit and healthy lifestyle and the chance to raise money and awareness for Meningitis Now is a great motivation for the team to take on this challenge and dig deep within themselves to see what they can achieve. We wish them all the luck in achieving their targets.”

And, of course, Harry Gardner, Corporate Account Executive at Meningitis Now, is also delighted about our new fundraising initiative. He says:

“We’re really grateful to the Page Kirk team and everyone who’s supporting them in their Static Bike Challenge. Their efforts will make a real difference to those who are at risk from meningitis and those whose lives have already been changed forever because of it. As a charity that receives no Government funding we rely entirely on the generosity, energy and initiative of our supporters to raise the vital funds we need to carry out our lifesaving and life-changing work.”
