Only two weeks to go until our static bike challenge for charity.

On the 26th October from 10.30am the Page Kirk team will be starting a nonstop static bike challenge for our charity of the year Meningitis Now. The organisation does a lot of great work in supporting people affected by the disease and funding research into new treatments.

Twelve of us have signed up to take part from across all our departments. We will be taking it turns on the two bikes throughout the day and night swapping every 30 minutes.

This week Tom Leigh and Imogen Spray have taken a trip down the road to PureGym Basford, who are lending us the bikes for the challenge.

They received some top tips from gym manager Dale Carlin. Dale commented;

“We are delighted to assist Page Kirk. We always endorse a fit and healthy lifestyle and the chance to raise money and awareness for Meningitis Now is a great motivation for the team to take on this challenge and dig deep within themselves to see what they can achieve. We wish them all the luck in achieving their targets.”

Tom from our accounts department has been focusing on getting fit for the challenge;

“It’s a great chance to test ourselves mentally and physically,” he says.

“For the last 6 weeks I have been in the gym training for the 24 hour challenge, and now I’m just excited for the day. I feel grateful to be able to help the charity.”

Imogen who is our HR assistant has decided to get involved in the challenge as she has never done anything like this before.

“I wanted to get involved with something out of the ordinary to hopefully raise that bit more money and help spread the awareness. Every little contribution helps, so please do consider making a donation in support of the team.’ She says.

“I feel more confident after talking to Dale about the bikes we will be using, the whole team are excited we are doing this amazing thing for charity so I’m going to give it my best shot.”

Our target of £1,000 would pay for 5 families to attend one of Meningitis Now local Family Days, having fun, accessing support and meeting other families who all have personal experiences of meningitis. Or it could fund one of their forever days for 5 bereaved families, bringing them together to remember loved ones and celebrate their lives in various UK locations. £1,000 could also pay for a week of their free helpline, which helps anyone who has had a direct experience of meningitis, their family, friends and carers. Often answering questions regarding meningitis or its after-effects, about vaccines and the prevention of meningitis and helping anyone seeking support following a meningitis experience.
